Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude. - Denis Waitley

What Kind of Fuckery is this?

"It hurts to let go. Sometimes it seems the harder you try to hold on to something or someone the more it wants to get away. You feel like some kind of criminal for having felt, for having wanted. For having wanted to be wanted. It confuses you, because you think that your feelings were wrong and it makes you feel so small because it’s so hard to keep it inside when you let it out and it doesn’t come back. You’re left so alone that you can’t explain. Damn, there’s nothing like that, is there?"
— The Portable Henry Rollin

Week Twenty

1) Being warm.
2) Having a day out that makes me feel like a kid again.
3) Finding a great & friendly local butcher.
4) Discussions that lead to knowing someone a wee bit better.
6) And above all , watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you. Because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it. -Roal Dahl

Do not go where the path may lead,
Go instead where there is no path

Rabbie Burns Day

Scots Wha Hae

Scots, wha hae wi'Wallace bled,
Scots, wham Bruce has aften led,
Welcome tæ yer gory bed,
Or tæ victorie.

'Now's the day, and now's the hour:
See the front o' battle lour,
See approach proud Edward's power -
Chains and Slavery.

'Wha will be a traitor knave?
Wha will fill a coward's grave?
Wha sæ base as be a slave?
Let him turn and flee.

'Wha, for Scotland's king and law,
Freedom's sword will strongly draw,
Freeman stand, or Freeman fa',
Let him on wi me.

'By Oppression's woes and pains,
By your sons in servile chains!
We will drain our dearest veins,
But they shall be free.

'Lay the proud usurpers low,
Tyrants fall in every foe,
Liberty's in every blow! -
Let us do or dee.

-Robert Burns, 1793

Sunday 23 January 2011

Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in;
Forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day;
You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit
to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Happy Friday

"Beautiful, sobbing
high-geared fucking
and then to lie silently
like deer tracks in the
freshly-fallen snow beside
the one you love.
That’s all."
— Richard Brautigan

4) Beating a boy at pool after he said he was rather good at it.
6) Lonely people are always up in the middle of the night.
- Nicole Krauss
